Why you need it

A device for detecting antibiotic residues in milk that helps you work to quality standards. In the EU, Regulation 853/2004 requires processors not to accept raw milk with residues above the maximum limits set by Regulation 37/2010. For a dairy the risk is also technical: the culture works slowly, yogurt comes out without the right acidity and cheese coagulation is delayed.

Two types of test

  • Rapid receptor tests (lateral flow) give an answer within 5–10 minutes, but often only detect beta-lactams, the group penicillin belongs to.
  • Microbial inhibition tests cover more groups of antibiotics, but the result takes about 3 hours.

How to choose

The choice depends on how quickly you need to accept the milk and on the antibiotics your supplying farmers use. Ask us about the type of test we offer, how many tests come in a pack and whether it needs a reader. At intake, the test goes together with the the lactodensimeter, which catches watered-down milk. Other equipment is in dairy equipment.
