Buying guide
Before comparing models, look at what happens to the product after it leaves the scale. If it goes to the till in a labeled bag, you need a label-printing scale that prints the product name, weight, price per kg, total and barcode. If you weigh in front of the customer and they pay right away, a scale without a printer may be enough.
All four DIGI models have a built-in thermal printer and print labels with the weight, price per kg, total and barcode. TM stainless steel scales weigh up to 30 kg and have TARE and ZERO functions. Ask us about label printing on these models.
DIGI scales connect to a computer or the till via Ethernet or RS-232 to receive the product list (PLU) and prices. The label barcode is usually EAN-13 with a prefix from 20 to 29, from which the till reads the price or weight, so the scale and the till software must use the same barcode format.
DIGI scales print on self-adhesive labels on rolls up to 60 mm wide. The SM-120 also supports linerless labels, with no backing paper, and the SM-5100 reaches 150 mm/s with high-sensitivity thermal paper. You'll find the label types in self-adhesive labels on rolls.
A scale you use to sell by weight is a legally controlled measuring instrument. According to Albania's General Directorate of Metrology (DPM) and Law no. 126/2020 “On metrology”, it's verified before first use and periodically after that.
