What it is

A vitamin C-based food antioxidant that helps maintain product quality and stability. As an additive, vitamin C appears as ascorbic acid (E300) or its salts, the ascorbates (E301 and E302).

Before you use it

Ask which of these forms it is, because the label says “antioxidant” followed by the corresponding name or E number.
Check whether it's allowed in your product and under what conditions. In the EU, this is set for each food category by Annex II of Regulation 1333/2008.
Follow the dose the manufacturer gives on the pack or in the technical data sheet.
